Senior Accountant

Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and analytical Senior Accountant to oversee the accounting operations and ensure the integrity of financial information. The ideal candidate has 5–8 years of experience and will be responsible for managing the month-end close process, reviewing the work of junior staff, and handling complex accounting transactions. You will act as a key point of contact for financial reporting and compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Month-End & Year-End Close: Lead the month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring all deadlines are met. Review and approve journal entries prepared by junior staff.
- Financial Statement Preparation: Prepare and present accurate financial statements with detailed variance analysis against budgets and prior periods.
- Team Supervision: Review the work of Accountants and Assistant Accountants, providing guidance, training, and feedback to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
- Treasury Management: Monitor daily cash flow, manage bank relationships, and review payment runs to ensure optimal cash management.
- Fixed Assets & Depreciation: Maintain the fixed assets register and calculate depreciation accurately according to company policy.
- Advanced Compliance: Ensure full compliance with all Kuwaiti statutory requirements, including VAT, Corporate Tax (if applicable), and Ministry of Commerce filings.
- Internal Controls: Develop and implement accounting policies and internal controls to safeguard company assets and improve process efficiency.
- System Improvement: Assist in the implementation and optimization of the ERP system to automate processes and improve reporting accuracy.
- External Audit: Manage the external audit process, preparing the audit package and responding to auditor queries.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance. Master’s degree is a plus.
- 5–8 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a senior role in Kuwait.
- Professional qualification (CPA, ACCA, CMA) is required.
- Expert knowledge of IFRS standards.
- Extensive experience with ERP systems (Oracle, SAP, or Microsoft Dynamics) is mandatory.
- Fluent in English; Arabic is highly desirable for stakeholder management.
- Strong leadership, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
- Transferable residency (Article 18) is mandatory.
