Job Summary
A Draftsman – Joinery Specialist is responsible for preparing detailed technical drawings, shop drawings, and production plans for joinery and woodworking projects. The role involves coordinating with designers, production teams, architects, and project managers to ensure accurate fabrication and installation of custom woodwork and joinery items.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed joinery shop drawings and technical drawings
- Develop furniture, cabinetry, wardrobes, kitchens, doors, and interior fit-out drawings
- Interpret architectural and interior design drawings and specifications
- Coordinate with production and installation teams for technical requirements
- Prepare cutting lists, material specifications, and BOQs (Bill of Quantities)
- Revise drawings based on project changes and site conditions
- Ensure drawings comply with project standards and manufacturing requirements
- Conduct site measurements when required
- Coordinate with clients, consultants, and project managers
- Maintain drawing records and project documentation
- Support production planning and quality control processes
Required Skills
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, SketchUp, or other drafting software
- Strong knowledge of joinery detailing and woodworking techniques
- Ability to read architectural and interior design drawings
- Attention to detail and technical accuracy
- Good communication and coordination skills
- Problem-solving and time management abilities
- Knowledge of materials, finishes, and production methods
Qualifications
- Diploma or degree in Drafting, Interior Design, Architecture, Civil Engineering, or related field
- 2–5 years of experience in joinery drafting or interior fit-out projects
- Experience in furniture or woodworking industry preferred
