Job Title: Safety Officer
Job Summary:
A Safety Officer is responsible for ensuring a safe working environment by identifying hazards, implementing safety policies, and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations. They help prevent accidents, injuries, and health issues in the workplace.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and monitor workplace health and safety policies and procedures
- Conduct regular risk assessments and safety inspections
- Identify potential hazards and recommend corrective actions
- Ensure compliance with local, national, and international safety regulations
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses, and prepare reports
- Organize safety training and awareness programs for employees
- Maintain safety records, reports, and documentation
- Ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Coordinate emergency response plans and drills (fire, evacuation, etc.)
- Liaise with external regulatory authorities and auditors
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, or related field (preferred)
- Certification in safety (e.g., NEBOSH, OSHA, IOSH) is an advantage
- Proven experience as a Safety Officer or similar role

- Strong knowledge of safety regulations and standards
- Excellent observation and risk assessment skills
- Good communication and training abilities
- Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Working Conditions:
- May involve working in industrial, construction, or office environments
- Requires site inspections and fieldwork
- May need to respond to emergencies outside regular working hours
