Job Title: Piping Engineer
Job Summary
The Piping Engineer is responsible for designing, analyzing, installing, and maintaining piping systems used to transport fluids such as water, oil, gas, and chemicals in industrial facilities. The role ensures piping systems are safe, efficient, cost-effective, and compliant with engineering standards and project requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop piping layouts, isometrics, and routing plans for industrial projects.
- Prepare piping specifications, material selection, and technical documentation.
- Perform pipe stress analysis and ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards.
- Coordinate with mechanical, civil, structural, and process engineering teams.
- Review engineering drawings, P&IDs (Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams), and vendor documents.
- Ensure proper selection of pipes, fittings, valves, and supports based on project requirements.
- Support procurement activities by providing technical specifications.
- Monitor site installation activities and ensure compliance with design specifications.
- Conduct inspections and support testing such as hydrotesting and pressure testing.
- Identify and resolve technical issues during design and construction phases.
- Ensure adherence to safety regulations, quality standards, and project timelines.
- Prepare reports, progress updates, and as-built documentation.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of piping design principles and engineering concepts.
- Proficiency in piping design software (e.g., AutoCAD, PDMS, CAESAR II or equivalent).
- Understanding of codes and standards (ASME, API, ANSI, etc.).
- Knowledge of materials, fluid mechanics, and thermodynamics.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and P&IDs.
- Good communication and coordination skills.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in design work.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related field.
- 2–6+ years of experience in piping design or engineering projects.
- Experience in oil & gas, petrochemical, power plants, or industrial projects is preferred.
- Knowledge of international engineering standards is an advantage.
