Job Summary
The Telecommunication Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining, and supporting communication systems and networks. The role ensures reliable voice, data, and video communication infrastructure, including wired and wireless systems, across organizational or project environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, install, and maintain telecommunication systems including data networks, fiber optics, RF systems, and wireless communication.
- Configure and troubleshoot network equipment such as routers, switches, modems, and transmission systems.
- Ensure reliable connectivity for voice, data, and video communication services.
- Monitor network performance and resolve connectivity or signal issues.
- Conduct site surveys and feasibility studies for telecom installations.
- Support installation and commissioning of telecom infrastructure projects.
- Maintain and upgrade communication systems to improve efficiency and reliability.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and safety regulations.
- Coordinate with vendors, service providers, and cross-functional engineering teams.
- Prepare technical documentation, network diagrams, and system reports.
- Perform preventive maintenance and routine system checks.
- Support emergency troubleshooting and system restoration activities.
- Assist in capacity planning and network optimization.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of telecommunications systems and networking principles.
- Understanding of LAN, WAN, fiber optics, and wireless communication technologies.
- Familiarity with routing, switching, and network protocols (TCP/IP, VLAN, etc.).
- Ability to read and interpret network diagrams and technical schematics.
- Knowledge of telecom equipment and infrastructure components.
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
- Good communication and coordination abilities.
- Familiarity with telecom standards and safety practices.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering, or related field.
- 2–6+ years of experience in telecom or network engineering.
- Experience in IT networks, ISP, or infrastructure projects is preferred.
- Certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, or equivalent are an advantage.
