Job Title: Driver (Light Vehicle / Heavy Vehicle / Company Driver)
Department: Administration / Logistics / Transportation / Operations
Reports To: Transport Supervisor / Logistics Manager / Administration Manager
Job Summary
A Driver is responsible for the safe and timely transportation of personnel, materials, equipment, and documents while ensuring compliance with traffic regulations and company policies. The role includes vehicle inspection, basic maintenance checks, route planning, and maintaining transportation records.
Key Responsibilities
Transportation Services
- Safely transport employees, management, clients, and visitors to designated locations.
- Deliver documents, materials, equipment, and supplies as required.
- Follow assigned routes and schedules efficiently.
- Ensure timely pick-up and drop-off services.
Vehicle Operation & Safety
- Operate vehicles safely and responsibly in accordance with traffic laws.
- Maintain valid driving licenses and required certifications.
- Follow defensive driving practices to prevent accidents.
- Ensure passenger safety at all times.
Vehicle Inspection & Maintenance
- Conduct daily vehicle inspections before and after trips.
- Check fuel, oil, water, tire pressure, brakes, lights, and other vehicle systems.
- Report mechanical faults or maintenance requirements promptly.
- Keep vehicles clean and in good operating condition.
Documentation & Record Keeping
- Maintain vehicle logbooks and trip records.
- Record mileage, fuel consumption, and maintenance activities.
- Ensure vehicle registration, insurance, and permits are up to date.
- Submit transportation reports as required.
Route Planning & Coordination
- Plan efficient routes to minimize travel time and fuel consumption.
- Monitor traffic conditions and adjust routes when necessary.
- Coordinate transportation schedules with supervisors and departments.
- Assist in logistics and transportation planning.
Material Handling Support
- Assist with loading and unloading materials when required.
- Ensure cargo is properly secured during transportation.
- Verify delivery documents and obtain necessary acknowledgments.
- Handle company property with care.
Compliance & Safety
- Adhere to company transportation policies and procedures.
- Comply with road safety regulations and company HSE requirements.
- Report accidents, incidents, and traffic violations immediately.
- Participate in safety training and awareness programs.
Required Qualifications
- High School Certificate or equivalent qualification.
- Valid Light Vehicle or Heavy Vehicle Driving License (as applicable).
- 2–10+ years of professional driving experience.
- Clean driving record with good knowledge of local road networks and regulations.
