Job Summary
The Heavy Vehicle Driver is responsible for safely operating heavy vehicles to transport goods, materials, or equipment to designated locations. The role includes ensuring timely deliveries, maintaining vehicle condition, following traffic and safety regulations, and completing transportation documentation accurately.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate heavy vehicles such as trucks, trailers, or buses safely and efficiently
- Transport goods/materials to assigned destinations on schedule
- Conduct daily vehicle inspections and report maintenance needs
- Ensure proper loading and unloading of cargo when required
- Follow traffic laws, safety standards, and company policies
- Maintain accurate delivery records, logbooks, and fuel reports
- Monitor vehicle performance and cleanliness
- Communicate with dispatchers, supervisors, and customers professionally
- Handle emergency situations or breakdowns appropriately
Required Qualifications
- Valid heavy vehicle driving license
- Proven experience as a heavy vehicle driver or similar role
- Good knowledge of road safety regulations and traffic laws
- Ability to drive long distances and work flexible hours
- Basic knowledge of vehicle maintenance and troubleshooting
- Good physical fitness and stamina
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in transporting construction materials, industrial goods, or hazardous materials
- Defensive driving certification
