Job Title: Diesel Mechanic (Heavy Trucks & Tankers)
Job Summary
The Diesel Mechanic is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining diesel-powered heavy trucks, tankers, and related equipment. The role ensures vehicles operate safely, efficiently, and in compliance with company and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect and diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues in heavy trucks and tankers
- Perform preventive maintenance, servicing, and repairs on diesel engines and vehicle systems
- Repair or replace faulty parts such as brakes, transmissions, suspensions, fuel systems, and steering components
- Conduct engine tuning, oil changes, and lubrication services
- Use diagnostic tools and equipment to identify vehicle faults
- Ensure all maintenance work complies with safety and operational standards
- Maintain service records, repair logs, and spare parts inventory
- Test vehicles after repairs to ensure proper functionality
- Respond to emergency breakdowns and roadside assistance when required
Required Qualifications
- Diploma or technical certification in Diesel Mechanics or Automotive Technology
- Proven experience working on heavy trucks, tankers, or commercial vehicles
- Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and vehicle electronics
- Ability to read technical manuals and diagnostic reports
- Good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of workplace safety procedures and standards
Preferred Qualifications
- Manufacturer certification for heavy vehicle maintenance
- Experience with fleet maintenance operations
- Welding or fabrication skills are an advantage
