Job Title: LPG Technician
Job Summary:
The LPG Technician is responsible for the installation, inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) systems and equipment. The role ensures that LPG installations operate safely, efficiently, and in compliance with applicable safety regulations, industry standards, and company procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, inspect, test, maintain, and repair LPG storage tanks, pipelines, regulators, valves, meters, and related equipment.
- Conduct routine preventive maintenance and safety inspections of LPG systems.
- Detect and troubleshoot gas leaks, equipment malfunctions, and system faults.
- Perform pressure testing, leak testing, and commissioning of LPG installations.
- Ensure all LPG systems comply with local regulations, safety standards, and company policies.
- Respond promptly to emergency breakdowns, gas leaks, and customer service requests.
- Maintain accurate service records, inspection reports, and maintenance logs.
- Educate customers on the safe operation and handling of LPG equipment.
- Coordinate with engineers, supervisors, and contractors during installation and maintenance activities.
- Ensure proper handling, storage, and transportation of LPG equipment and materials.
- Follow all health, safety, and environmental (HSE) procedures and use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Report safety hazards, incidents, and equipment defects to management.
- Assist in inventory management of spare parts, tools, and maintenance materials.
Required Qualifications
- Diploma or ITI/Technical Certificate in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Gas Technology, or a related technical field.
- Certification in LPG installation or gas systems (where required by local regulations) is an advantage.
- 2–5 years of experience in LPG system installation, maintenance, or gas utility services (preferred).
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of LPG systems, gas distribution, and safety procedures.
- Ability to install, inspect, and repair LPG equipment and pipelines.
- Familiarity with pressure testing, leak detection, and commissioning procedures.
- Ability to read technical drawings, piping diagrams, and equipment manuals.
- Good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
- Effective communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Basic computer skills for preparing service reports and maintaining maintenance records.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with commercial and industrial LPG installations.
- Knowledge of fire safety systems and emergency response procedures.
- Familiarity with applicable gas codes, regulations, and HSE standards.
- Valid driving license (if travel to customer sites is required).
Working Conditions
- Full-time position involving both field and workshop activities.
- Frequent travel to customer sites and LPG facilities.
- May require working outdoors in varying weather conditions and responding to emergency call-outs.
- Must be physically fit to lift equipment, work at heights or in confined spaces when required, and comply with all safety procedures and PPE requirements.
