Job Title: Land Surveyor
Job Summary:
The Land Surveyor is responsible for conducting land and site surveys to determine property boundaries, topographical features, and elevations for construction, infrastructure, and land development projects. The role involves collecting and analyzing survey data, preparing maps and reports, and ensuring accuracy and compliance with applicable regulations and project requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct land, boundary, topographic, and construction surveys using surveying equipment and GPS technology.
- Establish and verify property boundaries, control points, and site benchmarks.
- Collect, record, and analyze field survey data with accuracy.
- Prepare survey reports, maps, sketches, and legal descriptions.
- Interpret engineering drawings, site plans, and construction layouts.
- Set out reference points, alignments, and levels for construction projects.
- Operate and maintain surveying instruments such as Total Stations, GPS/GNSS receivers, digital levels, and drones (where applicable).
- Coordinate with engineers, architects, project managers, contractors, and government authorities.
- Ensure survey work complies with legal requirements, industry standards, and project specifications.
- Perform quality checks to verify the accuracy of survey data.
- Maintain survey records, documentation, and field notes.
- Support quantity calculations, earthwork measurements, and as-built surveys.
- Follow workplace health, safety, and environmental regulations during field operations.
Required Qualifications
- Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Surveying, Civil Engineering, Geomatics, or a related field.
- Professional surveyor license or certification (where required) is an advantage.
- 2–5 years of experience in land or construction surveying (preferred).
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of land surveying principles and techniques.
- Proficiency in surveying instruments, including Total Station, GPS/GNSS, Auto Level, and Digital Level.
- Experience with surveying and CAD software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D, Leica Geo Office, Trimble Business Center, or similar applications.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and maps.
- Excellent mathematical and analytical skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work independently in both office and field environments.
- Problem-solving and time management skills.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with drone surveying and GIS software.
- Knowledge of construction layout, infrastructure projects, and topographic mapping.
- Familiarity with local land survey regulations and cadastral requirements.
- Experience with 3D modeling and digital terrain mapping.
Working Conditions
- Full-time position involving both office and outdoor field work.
- Frequent travel to project and construction sites.
- Work may involve exposure to varying weather conditions and uneven terrain.
- Flexibility to work extended hours when required to meet project deadlines.
- Compliance with all site safety procedures and use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
