Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and analytical Senior Planning Engineer to develop, monitor, and control project schedules throughout the project lifecycle. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing baseline schedules, monitoring project progress, identifying potential delays, performing schedule analysis, and providing recommendations to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget. The role requires close coordination with project managers, engineers, contractors, consultants, and clients.
Key Responsibilities
Project Planning & Scheduling
- Develop detailed project schedules using Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project in accordance with project scope and contractual requirements.
- Prepare baseline schedules, work breakdown structures (WBS), resource-loaded schedules, procurement schedules, and recovery plans.
- Define project milestones, critical paths, and project deliverables.
- Develop short-term, medium-term, and long-term project execution plans.
Progress Monitoring & Control
- Monitor project progress through regular site visits and coordination with project teams.
- Update project schedules based on actual progress and analyze schedule variances.
- Identify delays, bottlenecks, and risks affecting project timelines and recommend corrective actions.
- Prepare recovery schedules and mitigation plans to minimize project delays.
- Perform critical path and earned value analysis where applicable.
Reporting & Analysis
- Prepare weekly and monthly progress reports, dashboards, and executive summaries.
- Generate look-ahead schedules, S-curves, manpower histograms, cash flow forecasts, and productivity reports.
- Analyze project performance against planned milestones and contractual obligations.
- Present planning updates and schedule analysis to project management and clients.
Coordination & Stakeholder Management
- Coordinate with project managers, engineering teams, procurement, construction, QA/QC, and subcontractors to ensure alignment with project schedules.
- Participate in project progress meetings and provide planning recommendations.
- Review contractor schedules and evaluate extensions of time (EOT) claims and delay analyses when applicable.
- Support contract administration by providing schedule-related documentation and analysis.
Risk Management
- Identify scheduling risks and develop contingency and mitigation plans.
- Evaluate the impact of design changes, variations, and unforeseen events on project timelines.
- Support project risk assessments and scenario planning.
Documentation & Compliance
- Maintain accurate planning records, schedule updates, and supporting documentation.
- Ensure project schedules comply with contractual requirements, company procedures, and industry best practices.
- Support audits and management reviews by providing planning documentation.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 8–12 years of experience in project planning and scheduling, with experience on large-scale construction, infrastructure, industrial, or EPC projects.
- Strong knowledge of project planning methodologies, scheduling techniques, and project controls.
- Experience working with consultants, contractors, or project management consultancies is preferred.

- Understanding of construction contracts and Extension of Time (EOT) procedures.
- Familiarity with BIM-based planning and scheduling is an advantage.
