Job Description – Kitchen Steward
A Kitchen Steward is responsible for maintaining cleanliness, hygiene, and organization in the kitchen area. The role supports chefs and kitchen staff by ensuring all equipment, utensils, and work areas are clean and ready for daily operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Clean and sanitize kitchen equipment, utensils, cookware, and work areas.
- Wash dishes, plates, cutlery, and kitchen tools using proper procedures.
- Maintain cleanliness of floors, walls, storage areas, and kitchen facilities.
- Assist chefs and kitchen staff by providing clean equipment and utensils when required.
- Ensure proper handling and disposal of kitchen waste.
- Follow food safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards.
- Maintain garbage disposal areas in a clean and organized condition.
- Support deep cleaning activities of kitchen areas and equipment.
- Operate dishwashing machines and cleaning equipment safely.
- Ensure cleaning chemicals are used correctly and stored safely.
- Assist with receiving and organizing kitchen supplies when required.
- Maintain a safe and hygienic working environment.
Qualifications
- Previous experience as a Kitchen Steward, Dishwasher, or similar role is preferred.
- Experience in restaurants, hotels, or catering operations is an advantage.
- Basic knowledge of kitchen hygiene and sanitation practices.
- Ability to work flexible shifts, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
