Job Summary
The Planning Engineer is responsible for developing project schedules, monitoring progress, coordinating with project teams, and ensuring construction activities are completed according to approved timelines. The role involves planning, tracking, reporting, and analyzing project performance to support successful project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed project schedules, work programs, and execution plans.
- Develop project baseline schedules using Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project.
- Monitor project progress and compare actual performance against planned activities.
- Update schedules regularly and highlight delays or potential risks.
- Prepare weekly and monthly progress reports for project management.
- Coordinate with project managers, site engineers, subcontractors, and consultants.
- Perform critical path analysis and identify activities affecting project completion.
- Assist in developing recovery plans to address schedule delays.
- Track manpower, equipment, and material requirements against project plans.
- Prepare progress measurement systems and productivity reports.
- Support cost control activities and project forecasting.
- Review subcontractor schedules and ensure alignment with the master project schedule.
- Maintain project records, planning documents, and reporting databases.
- Participate in project meetings and provide updates on schedule performance.
- Assist with delay analysis, extension of time (EOT) documentation, and claims preparation.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- 3–8 years of experience as a Planning Engineer in construction or engineering projects.
- Experience with building, infrastructure, or EPC projects is preferred.
Technical Skills
- Primavera P6 (mandatory)
- Microsoft Project
- Advanced Microsoft Excel
- Project scheduling and monitoring
- Critical Path Method (CPM)

- Resource planning and allocation
- Basic knowledge of cost control and earned value management
- AutoCAD knowledge is an advantage
