Job Description: Planning Engineer
Job Summary
The Planning Engineer is responsible for developing, monitoring, and controlling project schedules to ensure timely completion of construction, engineering, or infrastructure projects. The role involves project planning, progress tracking, resource coordination, and reporting to ensure projects are delivered within scope, budget, and timeline.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop detailed project schedules using tools such as Primavera P6 or MS Project.
- Prepare baseline schedules and update them regularly based on project progress.
- Monitor project activities and track actual progress against planned timelines.
- Coordinate with project managers, site engineers, procurement, and subcontractors.
- Identify potential delays and propose corrective actions or recovery plans.
- Prepare weekly and monthly progress reports for management and clients.
- Analyze critical path, float, and sequencing of project activities.
- Assist in resource planning, manpower allocation, and material scheduling.
- Evaluate contractor schedules and ensure compliance with project requirements.
- Support cost control and project performance analysis where required.
- Participate in project meetings and provide planning updates and forecasts.
- Maintain documentation of project schedules, revisions, and reports.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
- 2–8 years of experience in project planning and scheduling.
- Experience in construction, infrastructure, MEP, oil & gas, or industrial projects.
- Proficiency in Primavera P6, MS Project, and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong understanding of project management principles and construction methodologies.

- Knowledge of earned value management (EVM) is an advantage.
- GCC or Middle East project experience preferred.
