Job Description: Commercial & Contracts Officer
Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and commercially focused Commercial & Contracts Officer to manage commercial activities and contract administration throughout the project lifecycle. The successful candidate will support contract negotiations, monitor contractual compliance, manage commercial risks, and ensure projects are delivered in accordance with contractual obligations, budgets, and company policies.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, review, and administer contracts, subcontracts, and commercial agreements.
- Assist in contract negotiations with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors.
- Monitor contract performance and ensure compliance with contractual terms and conditions.
- Identify commercial and contractual risks and recommend mitigation strategies.
- Prepare and evaluate variations, change orders, claims, and contractual correspondence.
- Support tendering, bidding, and procurement processes by reviewing commercial terms and conditions.
- Coordinate with project, engineering, procurement, finance, and legal teams to ensure effective contract execution.
- Monitor project costs, budgets, and commercial performance.
- Prepare commercial reports, cost forecasts, and contract status updates for management.
- Maintain accurate contract documentation, records, and filing systems.
- Resolve commercial issues and assist in dispute prevention and contract close-out activities.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, applicable laws, and industry standards.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Quantity Surveying, Engineering, Law, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in commercial management, contract administration, or procurement.
- Strong understanding of contract law, commercial practices, and procurement processes.
- Experience with standard contract forms such as FIDIC or equivalent is an advantage.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and contract or ERP management systems.
- Strong analytical, negotiation, and financial management skills.
