Job Summary
Al Nawras Safety & Security Systems is seeking an experienced Design Manager – Fire & Life Safety to lead our design engineering team and oversee the preparation, review, and approval of technical designs and engineering documentation.
The ideal candidate will have strong experience in Fire Protection, Fire Alarm, Smoke Management, ELV, and Emergency Lighting systems, with a thorough understanding of UAE Fire & Life Safety requirements and relevant NFPA standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, manage, and mentor the Design Engineering Team and CAD Technicians.
- Review and approve shop drawings, design drawings, technical submittals, and engineering documents.
- Oversee the design of:
- Fire Fighting Systems
- Fire Alarm Systems
- Smoke Management Systems
- ELV Systems
- Emergency Lighting Systems
- Ensure all designs comply with the UAE Fire & Life Safety Code, NFPA standards, and applicable authority requirements.
- Review and verify engineering calculations, including:
- Hydraulic calculations
- Smoke management calculations
- LUX calculations
- Voltage drop calculations
- Coordinate design activities with Project Managers, Site Engineers, Consultants, and other engineering disciplines.
- Provide technical guidance and resolve design-related issues during project execution.
- Ensure design deliverables are completed accurately and within project schedules.
- Review authority submission requirements and support the team in obtaining necessary approvals.
- Maintain design quality, technical standards, and documentation procedures.
- Identify design risks, discrepancies, and coordination issues and provide appropriate technical solutions.
- Participate in design meetings, project reviews, and technical discussions with clients and consultants.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
- 8+ years of relevant experience in Fire Protection / Fire & Life Safety Design.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a Design Manager or similar managerial role.
- Strong knowledge of UAE Fire & Life Safety Code and relevant NFPA standards.
- Experience with fire protection design, hydraulic calculations, smoke management, fire alarm, ELV, and emergency lighting systems.
- Strong knowledge of AutoCAD and engineering design software.
- Excellent technical coordination and team-management skills.
- CFPS, PE, or equivalent professional certification is preferred.
