Job Description – Watch Technician
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Watch Technician to inspect, repair, service, and maintain mechanical, automatic, quartz, and other types of watches. The ideal candidate should have strong technical skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to handle delicate watch components carefully and professionally.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect watches to identify mechanical, electrical, cosmetic, and functional issues.
- Diagnose faults and determine the appropriate repair or servicing requirements.
- Disassemble, clean, lubricate, adjust, and reassemble watch movements.
- Repair and replace damaged or worn watch components such as gears, springs, batteries, crowns, hands, and straps.
- Perform battery replacement, movement adjustments, bracelet resizing, and other routine services.
- Test watches for accuracy, functionality, water resistance, and proper operation after servicing.
- Use specialized watchmaking tools and equipment safely and correctly.
- Maintain proper records of repairs, servicing, parts used, and work completed.
- Handle customer watches carefully and maintain the security of all items received for repair.
- Inspect completed repairs to ensure they meet quality standards.
- Identify parts that require replacement and coordinate with the relevant department for procurement.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and dust-free work area.
- Follow manufacturer specifications and company procedures when servicing watches.
- Keep up to date with new watch movements, tools, technologies, and repair techniques.
- Perform other technical duties assigned by management.
Requirements
- Diploma, certificate, or technical training in watchmaking, horology, electronics, or a related field is preferred.
- Previous experience as a Watch Technician, Watchmaker, or similar role.
- Knowledge of mechanical, automatic, and quartz watch movements.
- Experience using precision tools and watchmaking equipment.
- Strong understanding of watch components and movement mechanisms.
- Excellent manual dexterity and attention to detail.
- Ability to work patiently with small and delicate components.
- Good problem-solving and diagnostic skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle valuable items responsibly.
- Good communication and customer-service skills.
