Financial Accountant — Job Description

Job Summary

We are looking for a detail-oriented Financial Accountant to manage day-to-day accounting activities, maintain accurate financial records, and support the preparation of financial statements and reports. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of accounting principles, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to meet deadlines.

Key Responsibilities

Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records and accounting ledgers.
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports.
Handle accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and bank reconciliations.
Record journal entries, accruals, prepayments, and adjustments.
Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes.
Monitor cash flow and support cash and bank management activities.
Prepare and submit relevant tax, VAT/GST, and statutory reports as required.
Reconcile balance sheet and income statement accounts and investigate discrepancies.
Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
Ensure compliance with accounting standards, company policies, and applicable regulations.
Assist internal and external auditors by providing supporting schedules and documentation.
Maintain proper documentation and financial controls.
Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and controls.
Perform other finance-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Skills

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related field.
Professional qualification such as ACCA, CA, CMA, CPA, or equivalent is an advantage.
2–5 years of relevant accounting experience.
Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting.
Experience with accounting software/ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks, or similar.
Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis.
Strong attention to detail and numerical accuracy.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Good written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple deadlines.
High level of integrity and confidentiality.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

Accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting.
Timely completion of month-end and year-end closing.
Accuracy of reconciliations and accounting records.
Compliance with tax, statutory, and internal reporting requirements.
Effective management of accounts receivable and payable.
Adherence to internal financial controls and procedures.
