Government Relations Officer — Job Description
Job Summary
We are seeking a professional and well-connected Government Relations Officer to manage and develop relationships with government authorities, regulatory bodies, and public-sector stakeholders. The successful candidate will support the organization in obtaining approvals, licenses, permits, and government services, while monitoring regulatory developments and ensuring effective communication with relevant government departments.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain professional relationships with government departments, regulatory authorities, and public-sector organizations.
- Represent the organization in communications and routine interactions with government authorities.
- Coordinate applications for licenses, permits, approvals, registrations, certificates, and other government requirements.
- Follow up with government departments to ensure timely processing of applications, renewals, and official documentation.
- Monitor changes in government regulations, policies, procedures, and compliance requirements relevant to the organization.
- Provide management with updates and advice regarding regulatory changes and potential business impacts.
- Prepare and submit official letters, applications, forms, reports, and supporting documents to government authorities.
- Coordinate inspections, audits, site visits, and meetings with government representatives when required.
- Maintain accurate records of government correspondence, applications, approvals, licenses, permits, and regulatory documents.
- Ensure government-related documentation is properly organized, updated, and readily accessible.
- Assist management in resolving government-related issues, regulatory queries, and administrative matters.
- Coordinate with HR, legal, finance, operations, compliance, and other departments on government-related requirements.
- Support visa, work permit, labor, immigration, company registration, municipality, licensing, and other government processes where applicable.
- Maintain a calendar of license, permit, registration, and certification renewal dates.
- Build positive and professional relationships with key government stakeholders.
- Attend government meetings, seminars, workshops, forums, and industry events as required.
- Prepare regular reports on government relations activities, pending applications, regulatory matters, and compliance status.
- Ensure all dealings with government authorities are conducted professionally, ethically, transparently, and in accordance with applicable laws and company policies.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of organizational and government-related information.
- Perform other government relations and corporate affairs duties assigned by management.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Political Science, Law, Communications, International Relations, or a related field.
- 2–5 years of experience in government relations, public affairs, administration, regulatory affairs, or a related role.
- Experience dealing with government departments and regulatory authorities is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of local government procedures, licensing requirements, and regulatory processes is an advantage.
- Additional qualifications in government affairs, compliance, or public relations are desirable.
