Fit-Out Estimator – Job Description
We are looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Fit-Out Estimator to prepare accurate cost estimates and commercial proposals for interior fit-out and renovation projects. The role involves reviewing drawings and specifications, preparing quantity take-offs, obtaining supplier and subcontractor quotations, analyzing costs, and supporting the tender and procurement processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Review architectural, interior, MEP, structural drawings, specifications, BOQs, and tender documents.
- Prepare detailed quantity take-offs for fit-out works including civil, architectural, joinery, ceilings, flooring, partitions, painting, and other finishing works.
- Prepare accurate and competitive project cost estimates.
- Develop BOQs and pricing schedules based on project requirements.
- Obtain and evaluate quotations from suppliers and subcontractors.
- Prepare comparison sheets and negotiate rates where required.
- Analyze material, labor, equipment, subcontractor, and overhead costs.
- Prepare tender submissions, commercial proposals, and cost breakdowns.
- Identify scope gaps, exclusions, assumptions, and potential commercial risks.
- Conduct site visits to assess existing conditions and verify project requirements.
- Coordinate with design, procurement, project, and commercial teams during the estimation process.
- Review tender clarifications, addenda, drawing revisions, and client requirements.
- Prepare variations, additional-work estimates, and cost impact assessments when required.
- Maintain a database of material, labor, supplier, and subcontractor rates.
- Monitor market prices and identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Assist in value engineering and alternative material/product proposals.
- Ensure estimates are prepared within tender deadlines and company procedures.
- Maintain proper records of estimates, quotations, take-offs, and tender documents.
- Support the commercial team during contract negotiations and project handover.
- Assist project teams with budget control and cost monitoring after award.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- 3–7 years of experience in fit-out estimation, interior contracting, quantity surveying, or construction.
- Strong knowledge of interior fit-out materials, construction methods, and finishing works.
- Experience in preparing BOQs, quantity take-offs, cost estimates, and tender submissions.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural and MEP drawings.
- Good knowledge of material, labor, subcontractor, and installation costs.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and MS Excel.
- Experience with estimation/quantity surveying software is an advantage.
- Strong numerical, analytical, and commercial skills.
- Good negotiation and supplier/subcontractor coordination skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to meet tight deadlines.
