MEP Engineer – Job Description
We are looking for a qualified and experienced MEP Engineer to manage and coordinate Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) works for construction and fit-out projects. The MEP Engineer will be responsible for technical coordination, site execution, quality control, testing and commissioning, and ensuring that MEP installations comply with approved drawings, specifications, applicable standards, and project schedules.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, coordinate, and supervise MEP works at project sites.
- Review MEP drawings, specifications, BOQs, shop drawings, and technical documents.
- Coordinate mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, fire-fighting, and related services.
- Ensure MEP installations are executed according to approved drawings and specifications.
- Coordinate with architects, civil engineers, consultants, contractors, and subcontractors.
- Monitor daily site activities and ensure work progresses according to the project schedule.
- Prepare and review material submittals, method statements, inspection requests, and technical documentation.
- Ensure proper installation of MEP systems, equipment, and materials.
- Coordinate material requirements with procurement and stores teams.
- Inspect completed MEP works and ensure compliance with quality standards.
- Identify technical issues, clashes, and site constraints and coordinate appropriate solutions.
- Coordinate MEP services with architectural, structural, and interior works.
- Conduct or coordinate testing and commissioning of MEP systems.
- Assist in preparing testing and commissioning reports and handover documentation.
- Monitor subcontractor performance and ensure compliance with project requirements.
- Maintain records of drawings, revisions, inspections, testing, and project correspondence.
- Assist in preparing as-built drawings and operation and maintenance documentation.
- Ensure MEP works comply with applicable local authority requirements, codes, and standards.
- Support project planning, progress reporting, and cost-control activities.
- Ensure all MEP activities comply with HSE requirements and safe working practices.
- Attend coordination meetings and provide technical updates to the Project Manager.
- Resolve technical queries and coordinate RFIs with consultants and design teams.
- Support project close-out and final handover activities.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or related Engineering discipline.
- 3–7 years of relevant MEP engineering experience in construction, fit-out, commercial, residential, hospitality, or industrial projects.
- Strong knowledge of MEP systems and construction/fit-out practices.
- Ability to read and interpret MEP drawings, schematics, specifications, and technical documents.
- Experience in site supervision, technical coordination, and subcontractor management.
- Knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire-fighting, and other building services is preferred.
- Familiarity with relevant local codes, standards, and authority requirements.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and MS Office.
- Knowledge of BIM/Revit and project management software is an advantage.
- Strong communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet project deadlines.
- Willingness to work at project sites and travel when required.
