Job Title: Technician (with QHSE Responsibilities)
Department: Operations / QHSE
Reports To: Technical Supervisor / QHSE Manager
Job Summary:
This dual-role position is critical for maintaining both operational efficiency and a safe working environment. The Technician performs hands-on installation, maintenance, and repair of equipment and systems, while simultaneously championing Quality, Health, Safety, and Environmental (QHSE) standards on the ground. This individual serves as the eyes and ears for safety and quality in the field.
Key Responsibilities:
- Technical Duties:
- Perform routine and corrective maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on equipment and machinery.
- Assist engineers in setting up, testing, and commissioning new systems and equipment.
- Read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics to perform tasks accurately.
- Calibrate instruments and tools to ensure precision and accuracy.
- Quality Assurance:
- Conduct quality inspections of workmanship and materials against established standards.
- Document all work performed in maintenance logs and service reports.
- Participate in root cause analysis for equipment failures or quality non-conformances.
- Health, Safety & Environment (HSE):
- Actively participate in daily toolbox talks and safety meetings.
- Identify, report, and mitigate potential workplace hazards.
- Ensure strict adherence to all company HSE policies, procedures, and permit-to-work systems.
- Properly use, maintain, and inspect Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Assist in incident investigations and the implementation of corrective actions.
- Promote and follow proper waste management and environmental protection practices.
Qualifications and Skills:
- High school diploma or equivalent; Associate’s degree or certification in a technical trade is preferred.
- Proven experience as a technician in a relevant field (e.g., electrical, mechanical, instrumentation).
- Formal training in OSHA, IOSH, NEBOSH, or similar HSE standards is a significant advantage.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- High level of safety awareness and a proactive attitude towards QHSE.
