Waiter / Waitress
Job Summary:
The Waiter/Waitress is the primary point of contact for guests during their meal, responsible for delivering exceptional table service. This role requires a comprehensive knowledge of the menu, the ability to anticipate guest needs, and a talent for upselling. The server ensures a smooth, enjoyable, and memorable dining experience from taking the order to processing the final payment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Guest Service & Order Management:
- Approach tables promptly with a friendly demeanor, present menus, and announce daily specials.
- Possess thorough knowledge of all menu items, ingredients, and preparation methods to answer questions and make recommendations.
- Accurately take food and beverage orders and input them into the POS system.
- Serve food and beverages correctly and in a timely manner, ensuring all items are delivered as described.
- Table Maintenance:
- Monitor tables to ensure guest satisfaction, promptly addressing any requests or issues.
- Perform table maintenance, including clearing finished plates, refilling beverages, and ensuring a clean dining area.
- Check in with guests to ensure their meal meets expectations.
- Payment Processing:
- Present checks to guests promptly and process payments accurately via cash, credit card, or other methods.
- Thank guests sincerely and invite them to return.
- Teamwork & Side Work:
- Collaborate effectively with kitchen staff, bartenders, and other servers to ensure seamless service.
- Set up and break down the dining area before and after service.
- Complete side duties such as refilling condiments, polishing cutlery, and folding napkins.
Required Experience & Skills:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Waiter/Waitress in a full-service, table-service restaurant.
- Extensive food and beverage knowledge with a proven ability to upsell.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills with a positive, can-do attitude.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and work efficiently in a high-pressure environment.
- Physical stamina to be on feet and moving for the entire shift.
- Strong teamwork and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in using a POS system.
