IT Support Specialist

Job Description:
We are looking for a skilled and customer-focused IT Support Specialist to provide technical assistance to our internal users. You will be responsible for diagnosing and resolving hardware and software issues, maintaining computer systems, and ensuring the smooth operation of our IT infrastructure. This role is critical in minimizing downtime and enabling our employees to work efficiently.
Key Responsibilities:
- Helpdesk Support: Serve as the first point of contact for employees seeking technical assistance over the phone, email, or in person. Perform remote troubleshooting through diagnostic techniques and pertinent questions.
- Hardware & Software Maintenance: Install, configure, and troubleshoot computer hardware, operating systems, and application software (e.g., MS Office, internal systems). Set up new user workstations and equipment.
- Network Support: Assist with basic network troubleshooting, including connectivity, VPN, and printer issues.
- System Administration: Manage user accounts, permissions, and access rights in Active Directory and other systems. Perform password resets and account unlocks.
- Preventative Maintenance: Perform regular system updates, patches, and maintenance to ensure security and optimal performance.
- Documentation: Create and maintain IT documentation, including troubleshooting guides, FAQs, and inventory lists.
- Vendor Coordination: Liaise with external IT vendors for advanced support and warranty claims.
- Security Compliance: Educate users on IT security best practices and assist in the implementation of security measures.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or relevant field.
- Proven experience as an IT Support Specialist, Help Desk Technician, or similar role.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Windows OS, MS Office 365, and desktop hardware.
- Basic understanding of network concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP).
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
- Customer-oriented and patient demeanor.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, Microsoft Certified IT Professional) are a plus.
