Commis Chef
Salary: SAR 1,800 + Accommodation
Job Overview:
A Commis Chef is an entry-level position in the kitchen brigade, responsible for learning and performing basic food preparation tasks. You will work under the guidance of the Chef de Partie and Demi Chef de Partie to ensure the smooth running of a specific section. This role is fundamental for building foundational culinary skills and understanding kitchen operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform basic food preparation duties, including washing, peeling, chopping, and cutting ingredients as instructed.
- Assist the chefs in their sections with mise en place (preparation) for service.
- Learn and adhere to all recipes, portion controls, and presentation specifications.
- Maintain the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene in all work areas, including fridges and storage.
- Ensure all food items are stored correctly and rotated using the FIFO (First-In, First-Out) method.
- Handle kitchen equipment safely and responsibly.
- Support other kitchen sections when required to ensure a collaborative team environment.
- Comply with all health, safety, and sanitation standards.
Qualifications and Skills:
- A culinary school certificate or diploma is preferred but not mandatory.
- No prior professional experience is required; a strong passion for cooking and a willingness to learn are essential.
- Basic knowledge of food handling and sanitation principles.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
- Good communication skills and the ability to follow instructions precisely.
- Physical stamina to stand for long periods and lift heavy items.
