Job Description
The Aircraft Turnaround Coordinator is a pivotal role responsible for the complete oversight and management of an aircraft's on-ground activities from arrival ("in-block") to departure ("off-block"). You will be the central point of coordination, ensuring that all turnaround services are executed safely, on time, and in strict compliance with company and international standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Overall Coordination: Act as the single point of contact for all parties involved in the aircraft turnaround process, including ramp services, catering, fueling, cleaning, and cabin crew.
- Safety & Compliance: Ensure all ground handling activities adhere to the highest safety, security, and quality standards. Enforce strict compliance with company SOPs, airline-specific procedures, and regulatory requirements (e.g., GCAA, IATA).
- Turnaround Management: Monitor and manage the entire turnaround process to meet or exceed scheduled departure times (on-time performance).
- Resource Management: Coordinate with various service providers to ensure the timely availability of ground support equipment (GSE), personnel, and facilities.
- Communication Hub: Maintain clear and constant communication with the Air Traffic Control (ATC) tower, flight crew, ground staff, and the airline's operations control center.
- Problem-Solving: Proactively identify potential delays or operational issues and implement effective solutions to minimize disruption.
- Documentation: Oversee and verify the completion of all necessary turnaround documentation, including the Aircraft Turnaround Report and Load Sheet.
- Aircraft Safety: Conduct or supervise final pre-departure safety checks around the aircraft.
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum 7 years of proven experience in aircraft ground handling, with a significant portion dedicated to turnaround coordination or a similar supervisory role.
- In-depth knowledge of all aspects of aircraft turnaround services (ramp, load control, catering, fueling, etc.).
- Must possess relevant and valid aviation industry certifications (e.g., in Ramp Handling, Load Control, Safety Management Systems).
- Strong understanding of IATA standard procedures for ground handling (IGOM).
- Excellent command of the English language (both written and verbal). Knowledge of Arabic is an advantage.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Must be physically fit and able to work in an outdoor airport environment in various weather conditions.
