Chief Steward
Salary Range: 5,500 – 7,500 SAR
Job Summary:
The Chief Steward is responsible for the overall cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of the entire kitchen and back-of-house areas. This leadership role manages the stewarding team, ensures the proper handling and maintenance of all kitchenware and equipment, and is critical to maintaining health and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Team Management: Lead, schedule, and train the stewarding team, including dishwashers and cleaners.
- Inventory Management: Manage the inventory of all china, glassware, silverware, and kitchen smallwares. Control the distribution and return of these items.
- Sanitation & Cleanliness: Oversee the washing, polishing, and storage of all kitchenware. Ensure all kitchen floors, walls, and equipment are cleaned to the highest sanitary standards.
- Chemical & Supply Control: Manage the ordering, storage, and safe usage of cleaning chemicals and supplies.
- Equipment Maintenance: Coordinate with the engineering department for the maintenance and repair of dishwashing machines and other kitchen equipment.
- Waste Management: Oversee proper waste disposal and recycling procedures.
- Safety Compliance: Enforce strict safety protocols to prevent accidents and ensure compliance with health department regulations.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Proven experience (5+ years) in a stewarding department, with at least 2 years as a Chief Steward or Assistant Chief Steward.
- Strong knowledge of cleaning techniques, chemical safety, and sanitation standards (HACCP).
- Excellent organizational and leadership skills.
- Ability to manage inventory and control costs.
- Physical stamina and ability to work in a hot, humid, and fast-paced environment.
