Role Summary:
As a Med/Surg Nurse at SEHA, you will provide holistic nursing care to adult patients with a wide range of acute and chronic medical conditions or those recovering from surgical interventions. You are the cornerstone of inpatient care, responsible for monitoring patient progress, managing post-operative recovery, and ensuring clear, culturally sensitive communication with patients and their families in Tagalog and English.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver comprehensive nursing care to a designated caseload of medical and/or surgical patients.
- Perform detailed patient assessments, monitor vital signs, and recognize subtle changes in condition.
- Manage post-operative care, including wound care, drain management, pain control, and mobilization.
- Administer IV therapies, medications, blood products, and complex treatments as prescribed.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care plans.
- Provide extensive patient and family education in Tagalog and English on post-discharge care, medication adherence, and lifestyle modifications.
- Collaborate daily with physicians, surgeons, physiotherapists, dietitians, and other healthcare professionals in multidisciplinary rounds.
- Prepare patients for surgery, diagnostic tests, and procedures.
- Accurately document all care provided and patient responses in the electronic health record.
- Supervise and guide junior staff and nursing assistants.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
- Valid nursing license & BSN or equivalent.
- Minimum 2 years of recent experience in an acute Medical, Surgical, or combined Med/Surg inpatient unit.
- Fluency in Tagalog and English is mandatory.
- Solid clinical skills in wound care, IV therapy, pain management, and patient monitoring.
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities in a dynamic environment.
- High level of empathy and stamina for managing a demanding patient load.
- Team-oriented with exceptional collaboration skills.
