Position: Registered Nurse - Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory

Role Summary:
As a Cath Lab Nurse at SEHA, you will specialize in assisting with invasive cardiac and vascular procedures such as angiograms, angioplasties, stent placements, and pacemaker implants. You will work in a high-tech, radiation environment, providing direct patient care while managing complex equipment. Your role includes explaining intricate cardiac procedures to patients in Tagalog to ensure informed consent and reduce anxiety.
Key Responsibilities:
- Pre-Procedure: Assess the patient, verify consent, and provide detailed education about the procedure in Tagalog and English. Prepare the patient and the sterile field.
- Intra-Procedure: Administer medications (including IV sedation in collaboration with the physician), monitor hemodynamics (ECG, blood pressure, O2 saturation), and document procedure events in real-time. Assist the cardiologist with equipment and instruments.
- Radiation Safety: Adhere to strict radiation safety protocols for yourself and the patient.
- Emergency Response: Be proficient in managing cardiac emergencies such as arrhythmias, cardiac tamponade, or anaphylaxis.
- Post-Procedure: Manage recovery post-procedure, including sheath removal, site monitoring for complications (bleeding, hematoma), and patient stabilization before transfer.
- Equipment Management: Operate and troubleshoot sophisticated equipment like hemodynamic monitoring systems, IVUS, and pressure wires.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
- Valid nursing license & BSN or equivalent.
- Minimum 2-3 years of experience in a Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory, ICU, or Critical Care setting.
- Fluency in Tagalog and English is mandatory.
- Current ACLS certification is required. RCIS (Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist) certification is a strong advantage.
- Strong understanding of cardiac anatomy, physiology, EKG interpretation, and hemodynamics.
- Ability to wear heavy lead aprons for extended periods and work in a darkened procedural environment.
