Specialist Orthodontist
Location: Sohar City, Oman
Salary: 1,500 OMR per month (Full package, potentially including housing allowance)
Contract Type: Full-time, typically 2-3 years renewable
Job Overview:
A prestigious dental clinic or polyclinic in Sohar is looking for a dedicated and creative Specialist Orthodontist. The ideal candidate will possess a passion for creating beautiful smiles and functional bites. You will be responsible for diagnosing, preventing, and treating dental and facial irregularities in patients of all ages, using a variety of advanced orthodontic techniques and technologies.
Key Responsibilities:
Clinical Duties:
- Conduct comprehensive orthodontic assessments, including clinical exams, study models, cephalometric analysis, and radiographs (OPG, lateral cephalogram).
- Diagnose malocclusions, crowding, spacing, and jaw discrepancies.
- Design and implement customized treatment plans using appropriate orthodontic appliances:
- Fixed appliances (conventional and self-ligating braces)
- Removable appliances and functional appliances
- Clear aligner therapy (e.g., Invisalign)
- Retainers and other post-treatment appliances.
- Manage all phases of orthodontic treatment, including adjustments, progress monitoring, and retention.
- Manage pediatric and adult cases, including interceptive orthodontics where applicable.
- Coordinate treatment plans with general dentists, oral surgeons, and other specialists for multidisciplinary cases.
Administrative & Professional Duties:
- Maintain detailed and precise patient records, including treatment progress, consent forms, and photographic documentation.
- Educate patients and parents on treatment options, procedures, oral hygiene, and compliance.
- Manage clinic schedule efficiently to ensure optimal patient flow and care.
- Supervise and train dental assistants and hygienists in orthodontic procedures.
- Ensure strict adherence to infection control and sterilization protocols.
- Stay updated with the latest advancements in orthodontics and digital dentistry.
Requirements:
Mandatory:
- Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) or equivalent from a recognized university.
- Master's degree (MSc/MOrth) or a Doctorate/Board Certification (e.g., American Board of Orthodontics) in Orthodontics from a recognized institution.
- Valid dental license to practice as a Specialist Orthodontist from the home country.
- Minimum of 2-4 years of post-specialization clinical experience.
- Proven expertise in a full range of orthodontic techniques.
- Fluency in English; Arabic language skills are highly preferred.
Desirable:
- Certification or significant experience with clear aligner systems (Invisalign, etc.).
- Experience with digital orthodontics (intraoral scanning, 3D treatment planning).
- Experience working in the private sector in the Middle East.
- A patient-friendly, empathetic demeanor with excellent manual dexterity and aesthetic sense.
