Head of Engineering
Position Title: Head of Engineering
Location: Abu Dhabi, UAE
Reporting To: Director / General Manager
Job Summary:
To lead and manage the entire engineering department, ensuring the technical excellence of all projects. This role is responsible for the strategic direction of engineering resources, final approval of designs and methodologies, and acting as the ultimate technical authority within the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Department Leadership: Manage all engineering managers, leads, and discipline engineers. Oversee resource planning, recruitment, and professional development.
- Technical Governance: Establish and enforce company-wide engineering standards, procedures, and best practices. Serve as the final technical approver for major design submissions, value engineering proposals, and critical construction methodologies.
- Project Oversight: Provide high-level technical direction and support to Project Managers on complex issues. Review and advise on project risks, technical challenges, and contractual claims.
- Client & Consultant Relations: Act as the senior technical point of contact for key clients, consultants, and authorities. Lead technical negotiations and presentations.
- Innovation & Value Engineering: Drive innovation, research new technologies, and lead value engineering initiatives to improve project efficiency and profitability.
- Quality Assurance: Ensure a robust QA/QC system is implemented across all projects.
Eligibility & Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil, Mechanical, or a related engineering field. Master’s degree or Chartered/Professional Engineer status is highly preferred.
- Minimum 18-20 years of experience, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role (Head of Engineering, Engineering Director) within a major contracting company.
- Extensive and proven track record in delivering road & bridge projects, sewage & water systems, desalination/power plants, and building construction.
- In-depth knowledge of Abu Dhabi and UAE authority regulations and approval processes.
- Exceptional leadership, strategic thinking, and decision-making skills.
