Electrical Inspector
Location: Doha, Qatar
Project Type: Major Infrastructure, High-Rise Buildings, Mixed-Use Developments, or Stadiums (as applicable)
Reporting To: Senior MEP Inspector / Construction Manager
Job Purpose:
To ensure all electrical installations, systems, and equipment on the construction project are installed, tested, and commissioned in strict compliance with the project specifications, approved shop drawings, Qatari regulations (e.g., Kahramaa standards), and international codes (NEC, IEC, BS).
Key Responsibilities:
- Inspect and approve all electrical materials delivered to site for compliance with approved submittals and material schedules.
- Conduct daily inspections of ongoing electrical works including conduit/cable tray installation, cable pulling, termination, panel and board installation, lighting, earthing & lightning protection systems.
- Witness and document all electrical tests (e.g., insulation resistance, continuity, earth resistance, transformer testing, relay calibration) and ensure proper commissioning procedures are followed.
- Review and inspect low current systems including fire alarm, data, telecommunications, access control, and building management systems (BMS) interfaces.
- Ensure all works adhere to Kahramaa regulations and facilitate coordination for utility inspections and connections.
- Identify defects, non-conformities, and safety hazards; issue inspection reports (IRs), non-conformance reports (NCRs), and monitor corrective actions.
- Review and approve Method Statements, Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), and shop drawings related to electrical works.
- Coordinate with the Main Contractor, Electrical Subcontractor, and other discipline inspectors (Mechanical, Architectural) to resolve clashes and ensure integrated system installation.
- Maintain meticulous daily inspection records, logs, and photographic documentation.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
- A minimum of 8-10 years of experience in electrical inspection on large-scale construction projects in the Gulf region (Qatar experience is a significant advantage).
- Must be certified as an Electrical Inspector by Kahramaa (or have demonstrable experience and capability to obtain certification immediately).
- In-depth knowledge of Kahramaa regulations, NEC, IEC, and BS standards.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical schematics, shop drawings, and SLDs.
- Excellent command of written and spoken English. Arabic is an advantage.
