Position: Auto Electrician – Heavy Vehicles
Department: Workshop / Service & Repair
Reports To: Workshop Foreman / Service Manager
Salary Range: AED 2,000 – AED 2,500 per month
Job Purpose:
To diagnose, repair, and maintain the complex electrical and electronic systems of commercial and heavy vehicles (e.g., trucks, buses, construction equipment, trailers). The role requires a high level of technical expertise to ensure vehicles meet safety and operational standards with minimal downtime.
Key Responsibilities:
- Diagnose electrical faults using technical manuals, diagnostic software, and specialized equipment (multimeters, oscilloscopes, scanner tools).
- Repair and replace faulty wiring, alternators, starters, batteries, lighting systems, sensors, and electronic control units (ECUs).
- Troubleshoot advanced systems including ABS, airbag (SRS), engine management (EMS), transmission control, and climate control systems.
- Install and configure auxiliary electrical equipment such as refrigeration units, tail-lifts, crane PTO systems, and telematics/GPS units.
- Read and interpret electrical circuit diagrams and schematics specific to heavy vehicles.
- Perform routine electrical inspections and preventive maintenance as per service schedules.
- Ensure all work is completed in accordance with manufacturer standards and safety regulations.
- Document all repairs, parts used, and time spent on job cards or the workshop management system.
- Liaise with parts department to order necessary components.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Essential: Minimum 3–5 years of proven, hands-on experience as an Auto Electrician, specifically on commercial or heavy vehicles.
- Experience: Background in truck, bus, or heavy equipment dealerships/workshops is highly preferred. Home country experience will be accepted.
- Technical Skills: In-depth knowledge of 12V and 24V electrical systems, CAN-Bus networks, and vehicle electronics.
- Independence: Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision, managing own workload effectively.
- Certifications: A relevant technical diploma or trade certification in Auto Electrical systems is a strong advantage.
