🔧 Role Overview
A Senior System Administrator is responsible for designing, managing, and maintaining an organization’s IT infrastructure. This includes servers, networks, cloud systems, security, and ensuring high availability of critical systems.
🛠️ Key Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain Windows/Linux servers and enterprise systems
- Oversee network infrastructure (LAN/WAN, VPN, firewalls)
- Administer Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy
- Handle cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, VMware)
- Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues
- Ensure data backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity
- Implement and maintain IT security policies
- Perform system upgrades, patching, and automation
- Lead or support IT projects and infrastructure upgrades
- Provide technical guidance to junior administrators
🧠 Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of Windows Server & Linux systems
- Experience with virtualization (VMware, Hyper-V)
- Networking knowledge (TCP/IP, routing, switching)
- Familiarity with cloud services (AWS, Azure)
- Scripting skills (PowerShell, Bash)
- Experience with monitoring tools (Nagios, Zabbix, etc.)
- Understanding of cybersecurity best practices
🎓 Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field
- 5–10+ years of system administration experience
- Certifications (preferred but not always required):
- Microsoft (e.g., Azure Admin)
- Cisco (CCNA/CCNP)
- Red Hat (RHCSA/RHCE)
- VMware (VCP)
