Job Title: General Accountant
Job Summary
The General Accountant is responsible for managing day-to-day accounting operations, maintaining accurate financial records, and ensuring compliance with applicable accounting standards and regulations. This role supports financial reporting, reconciliations, and overall financial integrity of the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain general ledger and record all financial transactions
- Prepare journal entries, accruals, and adjustments
- Perform bank, vendor, and account reconciliations
- Assist in month-end and year-end closing processes
- Prepare financial statements (balance sheet, profit & loss, cash flow)
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards such as International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) or Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Manage accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) processes
- Support audits by preparing schedules and documentation
- Monitor expenses and ensure proper cost allocation
- Assist in budgeting and forecasting activities
- Maintain accurate financial records and documentation
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Commerce
- 2–7+ years of relevant accounting experience
- Professional certification (CA, CMA, CPA, or equivalent) preferred
Key Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Tally, SAP, Oracle)
- Advanced MS Excel skills
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Time management and ability to meet deadlines
Preferred Experience
- Experience in ERP systems and financial reporting tools
- Exposure to tax compliance (direct and indirect taxes)
- Experience working with auditors and handling audits
