Head of Department (HOD) – Science
Job Summary
The HOD – Science is responsible for leading the Science department, ensuring high-quality teaching and learning across Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and General Science. The role includes curriculum planning, teacher supervision, lab coordination, student performance improvement, and alignment with school and Ministry of Education standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the Science department across assigned grade levels
- Plan, implement, and review Science curriculum delivery (theory and practical)
- Supervise lesson planning, teaching methods, and classroom instruction
- Conduct regular classroom observations and provide feedback to teachers
- Monitor student performance and implement improvement strategies
- Develop and standardize assessments, question papers, and grading criteria
- Oversee laboratory activities, experiments, and safety procedures
- Ensure proper maintenance and usage of lab equipment and materials
- Organize science fairs, exhibitions, competitions, and STEM activities
- Mentor and support Science teachers through training and development
- Ensure compliance with curriculum frameworks (MOE / CBSE / IB / Cambridge, etc.)
- Coordinate with school leadership for academic planning and reporting

Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Science (Physics/Chemistry/Biology or related field)
- Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) preferred or required
- 5–10+ years of teaching experience in Science subjects
- 2–5 years of experience in HOD or academic leadership role preferred
- Experience in MOE / CBSE / IB / Cambridge curriculum is an advantage
