Facade Designer | Job Description
A Facade Designer is responsible for designing and detailing the external building envelope systems such as curtain walls, aluminium cladding, glazing systems, windows, and structural façades used in commercial and high-rise buildings.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop façade system designs based on architectural drawings and project requirements.
- Prepare shop drawings, fabrication drawings, and installation drawings for aluminium and glazing systems.
- Design curtain wall systems, unitized systems, stick systems, doors, windows, and cladding panels.
- Coordinate with architects, structural engineers, and project teams to ensure design accuracy.
- Perform detailing for joints, fixing systems, anchors, and support structures.
- Ensure designs meet project specifications, codes, and safety standards.
- Prepare material take-offs and technical submittals.
- Revise drawings based on client comments, consultant approvals, and site conditions.
- Support production and installation teams by resolving design-related issues.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of aluminium façade systems (curtain wall, ACP cladding, glazing systems).
- Ability to read and interpret architectural and structural drawings.
- Proficiency in software such as:
- AutoCAD
- Revit
- 3D modeling tools (Rhino / SolidWorks / Tekla – advantage)
- Understanding of fabrication and installation processes.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving ability.
