Position Title: MEP Estimation Engineer
Job Summary:
The MEP Estimation Engineer is responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates and tender submissions for Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) projects. The role involves reviewing project drawings and specifications, performing quantity take-offs, evaluating material and labor costs, obtaining supplier and subcontractor quotations, and supporting the bidding process to ensure competitive and profitable project proposals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review MEP drawings, specifications, BOQs (Bill of Quantities), and contract documents to determine project requirements.
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for mechanical, electrical, and plumbing works.
- Perform quantity take-offs for HVAC, electrical, fire protection, plumbing, drainage, and related MEP systems.
- Obtain and evaluate quotations from suppliers, manufacturers, and subcontractors.
- Prepare tender documents, bid proposals, technical submissions, and cost breakdowns.
- Analyze project scope, risks, and opportunities to optimize project costs.
- Coordinate with design, procurement, and project management teams during the estimation process.
- Verify compliance with project specifications, local codes, and industry standards.
- Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and project cost control activities.
- Maintain and update cost databases, vendor pricing, and estimation records.
- Attend pre-bid meetings, site visits, and technical discussions as required.
- Provide technical and commercial support during contract negotiations.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience in MEP estimation, quantity surveying, or tendering.
- Strong knowledge of MEP systems, construction methods, and industry standards.
- Ability to read and interpret MEP drawings, specifications, and BOQs.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Microsoft Excel, and estimation software.
- Familiarity with local building regulations, codes, and construction practices.
- Strong analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills.
