Role Summary
The Heavy Vehicle Driver is responsible for safely operating trucks and other heavy-duty vehicles to transport goods, materials, or equipment between locations. The role ensures timely delivery, compliance with road safety regulations, and proper handling of cargo.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate heavy vehicles such as trucks, trailers, or lorries safely and efficiently.
- Transport goods, materials, or equipment to designated locations on time.
- Load and unload cargo securely when required.
- Inspect vehicles before and after trips to ensure roadworthiness.
- Follow all traffic laws, company policies, and safety regulations.
- Maintain delivery logs, trip reports, and necessary documentation.
- Ensure proper handling and securing of goods during transit.
- Report vehicle defects, accidents, or delays immediately.
- Coordinate with dispatchers, warehouse staff, and supervisors.
- Perform basic vehicle maintenance checks (oil, tires, brakes, fuel).
Requirements & Qualifications
- Valid heavy vehicle driving license (as per country regulations).
- Proven experience as a heavy truck or commercial vehicle driver.
- Good knowledge of road safety rules and traffic regulations.
- Ability to read maps or use GPS navigation systems.
- Physically fit and able to handle loading/unloading tasks.
- Clean driving record (preferred).
