Role Summary
The Boom Truck Operator is responsible for safely operating a boom truck (truck-mounted crane) to lift, move, and position materials at construction, industrial, or logistics sites. The role requires careful handling of equipment, adherence to safety standards, and coordination with ground crews to ensure efficient operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate boom trucks to lift, lower, and transport materials safely.
- Inspect boom truck and lifting equipment before and after use.
- Set up and stabilize the vehicle before performing lifting operations.
- Follow load charts, lifting plans, and site instructions.
- Work closely with riggers, signalers, and site supervisors.
- Ensure loads are properly secured before lifting and transport.
- Perform basic maintenance checks and report mechanical issues.
- Maintain accurate logs of operations and daily activity reports.
- Follow all safety procedures and traffic regulations.
- Assist in loading/unloading materials when required.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Valid heavy vehicle driving license with boom truck/crane endorsement (as per local regulations).
- Proven experience operating boom trucks or similar lifting equipment.
- Strong understanding of lifting procedures, load limits, and safety rules.
- Ability to read and interpret load charts and site instructions.
- Physically fit and capable of working in outdoor environments.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
Preferred Skills
- Experience in construction, logistics, oil & gas, or industrial projects.
- Knowledge of rigging and slinging practices.
- Basic mechanical troubleshooting ability.
