Job Summary:
The QA/QC Inspector – Civil Engineering is responsible for ensuring that all civil construction activities comply with project specifications, approved drawings, applicable codes, standards, and quality requirements. The role involves conducting inspections, monitoring construction activities, identifying non-conformities, and ensuring corrective actions are implemented to achieve the required quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct inspections of civil works, including excavation, foundations, concrete works, structural elements, masonry, finishing works, roads, and infrastructure.
- Verify that construction activities comply with approved drawings, project specifications, method statements, and applicable standards.
- Inspect incoming construction materials to ensure compliance with project requirements and approved material submittals.
- Witness and document quality control tests, including concrete slump tests, cube testing, soil compaction, reinforcement inspections, and other field tests.
- Prepare and maintain inspection reports, quality records, checklists, and documentation.
- Raise Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) for work that does not meet quality requirements and monitor corrective and preventive actions.
- Coordinate inspections with consultants, clients, subcontractors, and third-party testing agencies.
- Review Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), Method Statements, and Quality Control Procedures.
- Ensure all inspection activities are completed according to the project quality plan.
- Monitor workmanship and recommend improvements to maintain quality standards.
- Verify completion of punch list items before project handover.
- Support internal and external quality audits.
- Ensure compliance with relevant building codes, safety regulations, and quality management systems.
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, test results, and quality documentation.
Qualifications
- Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
- Certification in Quality Management or QA/QC is an advantage.
- 3–8 years of experience in civil construction quality inspection (depending on the role level).
- Experience in commercial, residential, industrial, or infrastructure projects is preferred.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of civil construction methods and materials.
- Familiarity with applicable construction codes, standards, and specifications.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documents.
- Knowledge of quality inspection procedures and testing methods.
- Proficiency in preparing inspection reports and maintaining quality documentation.
- Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
- Good communication and coordination abilities.
- Problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and construction documentation software.
Preferred Competencies
- Knowledge of ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems.
- Familiarity with Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), Method Statements, and quality procedures.
- Experience with material inspections and laboratory testing coordination.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary project team.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
Working Conditions
- Full-time, site-based role.
- Frequent field inspections in varying weather and construction site conditions.
- Regular interaction with contractors, consultants, clients, and project teams.
- May require extended working hours to meet project schedules and inspection deadlines.
