Job Summary
We are seeking a qualified and detail-oriented Mechanical Inspector to inspect and monitor mechanical installation works to ensure compliance with approved drawings, project specifications, applicable codes, and quality standards. The Mechanical Inspector will oversee installation activities, verify workmanship and materials, identify non-conformities, and coordinate with contractors, consultants, and project teams to ensure safe, efficient, and timely project execution.
Key Responsibilities
Site Inspection & Quality Control
- Conduct routine inspections of mechanical works to ensure compliance with approved drawings, project specifications, contract requirements, and applicable mechanical codes and standards.
- Inspect the installation of HVAC systems, plumbing, drainage, fire protection systems, chilled water piping, mechanical equipment, pumps, valves, ductwork, insulation, and associated mechanical services.
- Verify that materials and equipment delivered to the site conform to approved submittals and project specifications.
- Monitor workmanship and ensure installations are completed in accordance with approved method statements, manufacturer recommendations, and industry standards.
- Identify defects, non-conformities, and quality issues, and issue inspection reports with recommendations for corrective actions.
- Verify completion of corrective actions before approving subsequent work.
Project Coordination
- Coordinate with contractors, consultants, project engineers, and other disciplines to resolve technical and quality issues.
- Review shop drawings, material submittals, inspection requests, and method statements related to mechanical works.
- Attend site coordination and progress meetings.
- Monitor construction progress and provide regular updates on inspection activities.
Testing & Commissioning
- Witness testing and commissioning of mechanical systems.
- Verify pressure testing, flushing, balancing, performance testing, and functional testing of HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems.
- Ensure testing procedures and documentation comply with project specifications.
- Participate in pre-commissioning, commissioning, snagging, and final acceptance inspections.
Compliance & Documentation
- Ensure mechanical installations comply with project specifications, approved drawings, applicable codes, and safety regulations.
- Maintain inspection records, site diaries, quality reports, and inspection checklists.
- Prepare Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), Site Observation Reports (SORs), punch lists, and inspection documentation.
- Monitor corrective actions and maintain records of completed inspections.
- Support project handover by verifying completion of all mechanical works and documentation.
Health, Safety & Environmental Compliance
- Ensure mechanical works are carried out in accordance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Monitor safe work practices and report unsafe conditions or activities.
- Promote compliance with company quality management systems and site safety procedures.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
- 3–7 years of experience in mechanical inspection, construction supervision, or quality control.
- Experience in commercial, residential, industrial, healthcare, hospitality, or infrastructure projects.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, installation methods, testing procedures, and construction practices.
- Familiarity with local mechanical codes and international standards.

- Understanding of quality management systems such as ISO 9001 is preferred.
