Job Summary
The Machine Maintenance Technician is responsible for inspecting, maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and servicing manufacturing and production equipment to ensure optimal performance, reliability, and minimal downtime. The role supports preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities while ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and operational standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on machinery and production equipment.
- Inspect machines and equipment regularly to identify wear, damage, or potential failures.
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and control system faults and perform timely repairs.
- Install, assemble, test, and commission new machinery and equipment.
- Conduct routine lubrication, calibration, alignment, and adjustment of machines.
- Replace defective components such as bearings, belts, gears, motors, sensors, valves, and other mechanical or electrical parts.
- Maintain maintenance records, work orders, equipment history, and service reports.
- Collaborate with production teams to minimize equipment downtime and improve operational efficiency.
- Monitor machine performance and recommend improvements to increase reliability and productivity.
- Ensure compliance with workplace health, safety, environmental, and quality standards.
- Perform root cause analysis on equipment failures and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Maintain spare parts inventory and coordinate with procurement to ensure the availability of critical components.
- Participate in equipment upgrades, process improvement initiatives, and continuous improvement programs.
- Assist with emergency breakdown maintenance and respond promptly to equipment failures.
- Keep tools, equipment, and work areas clean, organized, and safe.
Qualifications
- Diploma, Technical Certificate, or Associate Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Industrial Maintenance, or a related technical field.
- Relevant trade certification or vocational qualification is preferred.
- Certification in electrical safety, PLC systems, welding, hydraulics, or pneumatics is an advantage.
Experience
- 2–5 years of experience in industrial machine maintenance, manufacturing, production, or plant maintenance.
- Experience with CNC machines, automated production lines, conveyors, packaging equipment, or industrial machinery is preferred.
- Experience using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) is an advantage.
Skills and Competencies
- Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, wiring diagrams, and equipment manuals.
- Troubleshooting and fault diagnosis skills.
- Knowledge of preventive and predictive maintenance practices.
- Familiarity with PLC-controlled equipment and industrial automation systems.
- Good analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work independently and under pressure.
- Proficiency in using maintenance tools, measuring instruments, and diagnostic equipment.
- Basic computer skills for maintenance reporting and documentation.

Working Conditions
- Manufacturing plants, factories, production facilities, warehouses, processing plants, or industrial sites.
- May require shift work, weekend work, overtime, or on-call support.
- Frequent standing, walking, climbing, lifting, and working in noisy or confined environments.
- Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required.
