Job Summary
The Project Engineer is responsible for supporting the planning, coordination, execution, and monitoring of engineering and construction projects. The role ensures that project activities are completed according to technical specifications, quality standards, safety requirements, budgets, and schedules. The Project Engineer acts as a key liaison between project management, engineering teams, contractors, suppliers, and clients to facilitate successful project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Project Planning & Coordination
- Assist in developing project plans, schedules, and work programs.
- Coordinate engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning activities.
- Monitor project progress and ensure activities are completed according to schedule.
- Support resource planning, including manpower, materials, and equipment requirements.
- Track project milestones and prepare progress reports.
Technical Management
- Review engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
- Ensure construction and installation activities comply with approved designs and project requirements.
- Resolve technical issues and provide engineering support to site teams.
- Coordinate design changes and manage technical queries (RFIs).
- Assist in preparing shop drawings and as-built documentation.
Site Supervision
- Monitor daily site activities to ensure work is performed safely and efficiently.
- Coordinate with contractors, subcontractors, consultants, and suppliers.
- Conduct site inspections to verify quality and compliance with specifications.
- Ensure timely execution of project activities and address site-related challenges.
Quality & Safety Compliance
- Ensure compliance with project quality standards and QA/QC requirements.
- Support inspection, testing, and commissioning activities.
- Promote adherence to health, safety, and environmental (HSE) regulations.
- Participate in risk assessments and safety meetings.
Cost & Procurement Support
- Assist in preparing material take-offs and procurement requests.
- Monitor material deliveries and inventory requirements.
- Support cost control efforts by tracking project expenditures and variations.
- Review subcontractor work progress and payment applications.
Documentation & Reporting
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly project reports.
- Maintain project records, drawings, technical submittals, and correspondence.
- Track RFIs, change orders, inspection requests, and project documentation.
- Assist in project close-out and handover documentation.
Stakeholder Coordination
- Attend project meetings with clients, consultants, and contractors.
- Communicate project updates and technical information to stakeholders.
- Support project management in achieving project objectives and client satisfaction.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Construction, or related discipline).
- 2–8 years of experience in engineering, construction, infrastructure, industrial, or MEP projects.
- Knowledge of project execution, engineering principles, and construction methodologies.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
- Familiarity with project management and scheduling tools.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and engineering software applications.
Preferred Qualifications
- PMP or CAPM certification is an advantage.
- Experience with BIM and digital construction tools.
- Knowledge of contract administration and project controls.
- Familiarity with local regulations and international engineering standards.
