Job Title: Design Manager
Job Summary:
The Design Manager is responsible for leading and coordinating the design process throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring that all architectural, structural, civil, and MEP designs meet client requirements, project specifications, regulatory standards, quality expectations, budgets, and timelines. The role serves as the primary liaison between clients, consultants, contractors, and internal project teams to ensure seamless design development and project execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the design process from concept through detailed design and construction support.
- Coordinate with architects, engineers, consultants, contractors, and clients to ensure design objectives are achieved.
- Review and approve architectural, structural, civil, MEP, and specialty engineering designs.
- Ensure designs comply with applicable codes, regulations, standards, and client requirements.
- Develop and monitor design schedules, deliverables, and project milestones.
- Identify design risks, technical challenges, and potential conflicts, implementing effective solutions.
- Manage design changes and ensure proper documentation and approval processes.
- Conduct design coordination meetings and technical workshops with project stakeholders.
- Review technical drawings, specifications, calculations, and engineering documentation.
- Collaborate with procurement and construction teams to ensure designs are practical, cost-effective, and buildable.
- Support value engineering initiatives to optimize project cost, quality, and performance.
- Ensure compliance with quality assurance (QA/QC) procedures throughout the design process.
- Mentor and supervise design engineers and technical staff.
- Monitor consultant performance and ensure timely submission of design deliverables.
- Prepare regular design progress reports for senior management and clients.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture, Structural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 8–15+ years of experience in engineering design, project design management, or multidisciplinary coordination.
- Minimum of 3–5 years in a design management or leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, engineering principles, and project delivery processes.
- Experience managing multidisciplinary design teams on large-scale construction or infrastructure projects.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, BIM platforms, and Microsoft Office.
- Familiarity with project management tools such as Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project is an advantage.
