Job Title: Heavy Vehicle Driver (License No. 4)
Job Summary:
The Heavy Vehicle Driver is responsible for safely operating heavy vehicles such as trucks, trailers, tankers, or other commercial vehicles to transport goods, materials, and equipment according to company schedules and safety standards. The role ensures timely deliveries, proper vehicle handling, compliance with traffic regulations, and effective coordination with logistics and warehouse teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate heavy vehicles safely and efficiently for transportation of goods and materials.
- Perform daily vehicle inspections before and after trips to ensure roadworthiness.
- Transport products, equipment, and materials to designated locations as per delivery schedules.
- Follow assigned routes, delivery instructions, and company transportation procedures.
- Ensure safe loading, unloading, and securing of cargo.
- Verify delivery documents, invoices, and related transportation paperwork.
- Maintain accurate trip records, fuel logs, mileage reports, and vehicle maintenance records.
- Report vehicle defects, accidents, delays, or operational issues immediately to supervisors.
- Follow all traffic laws, road safety regulations, and company safety policies.
- Coordinate with warehouse teams, customers, and logistics personnel during loading and delivery operations.
- Ensure proper handling and protection of transported goods.
- Maintain cleanliness and basic upkeep of the assigned vehicle.
- Assist with loading and unloading activities when required.
- Support emergency response procedures in case of breakdowns or accidents.
- Ensure compliance with company policies related to vehicle usage, safety, and security.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Heavy Vehicle Driving License No. 4 (as applicable).
- Minimum 2–5 years of experience driving heavy commercial vehicles.
- Knowledge of road safety regulations and defensive driving practices.
- Experience handling trucks, trailers, or other heavy vehicles preferred.
- Ability to read and understand delivery documents and basic instructions.
- Good knowledge of local routes and transportation procedures.
