Job Description: Project Manager – MEP Projects
Job Summary
The Project Manager – MEP Projects is responsible for planning, coordinating, executing, and delivering Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) projects within the approved scope, budget, quality standards, and schedule. The role involves managing project teams, subcontractors, consultants, vendors, and clients while ensuring compliance with safety regulations and contractual requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, execute, monitor, and successfully deliver MEP projects from initiation to completion.
- Develop detailed project schedules, resource plans, and budgets.
- Coordinate mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, fire protection, ELV, and utility installations.
- Monitor project progress and implement corrective actions to ensure timely completion.
- Manage subcontractors, suppliers, consultants, and site engineers.
- Ensure compliance with project specifications, drawings, applicable codes, and quality standards.
- Conduct regular site inspections and monitor work quality and safety performance.
- Review and approve technical submittals, shop drawings, material approvals, and method statements.
- Coordinate with architects, structural engineers, civil teams, and client representatives.
- Prepare progress reports, project updates, cost reports, and management presentations.
- Identify project risks and implement mitigation strategies.
- Monitor project costs and ensure effective budget control.
- Manage contract administration, variation orders, and claims.
- Lead project meetings and maintain effective communication with all stakeholders.
- Ensure timely procurement and delivery of materials and equipment.
- Support commissioning, testing, handover, and project close-out activities.
- Maintain compliance with HSE policies and statutory regulations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- PMP certification is preferred.
- Professional certifications in project management or construction management are an advantage.
Experience
- 8–15 years of experience in MEP project execution.
- Minimum 5 years in a Project Manager role.
- Experience in commercial, residential, industrial, healthcare, hospitality, or infrastructure projects.
- Proven experience managing multiple MEP projects simultaneously.
Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of MEP systems, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and ELV systems.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Project or Primavera P6.
- Knowledge of BIM coordination is desirable.
- Strong understanding of project planning, budgeting, procurement, and contract management.
- Familiarity with international and local construction codes and standards.
