Job Description – VIP & Commercial Manager – Energy
Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced and commercially driven VIP & Commercial Manager – Energy to manage high-value clients, strategic accounts, commercial relationships, and business opportunities within the energy sector.
The ideal candidate will have strong experience in energy-sector commercial management, key account management, business development, contract negotiation, and stakeholder engagement. The role requires a high level of professionalism, discretion, commercial awareness, and the ability to build long-term relationships with VIP clients, corporate customers, government entities, partners, and industry stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
VIP & Key Account Management
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with VIP clients, strategic customers, investors, partners, and key industry stakeholders.
- Act as the primary point of contact for high-value and strategic accounts.
- Understand client requirements and develop tailored commercial solutions.
- Ensure a consistently high level of service and client satisfaction.
- Conduct regular client meetings, business reviews, and relationship-building activities.
- Handle sensitive and confidential commercial matters with professionalism and discretion.
- Identify opportunities for account expansion, cross-selling, and long-term partnerships.
Commercial Management
- Develop and implement commercial strategies aligned with company growth objectives.
- Manage commercial activities across energy-related products, services, projects, or contracts.
- Prepare and review commercial proposals, quotations, tenders, and business cases.
- Lead commercial negotiations with customers, suppliers, contractors, and strategic partners.
- Review commercial terms, pricing, payment structures, margins, and contractual obligations.
- Monitor contract performance and identify commercial risks and opportunities.
- Work closely with finance, legal, operations, procurement, and technical teams to ensure successful commercial execution.
Business Development
- Identify new business opportunities within the energy market.
- Develop and maintain a strong pipeline of potential clients, projects, partnerships, and investments.
- Conduct market research and monitor energy-sector trends, competitors, regulations, and emerging opportunities.
- Develop strategic relationships with energy companies, government bodies, investors, consultants, and other industry stakeholders.
- Participate in industry conferences, exhibitions, networking events, and high-level business meetings.
- Support market-entry and expansion strategies in new regions or customer segments.
Contract & Tender Management
- Review and negotiate commercial aspects of contracts, tenders, agreements, and partnership arrangements.
- Coordinate with legal and technical teams to ensure commercial requirements are properly reflected in contracts.
- Monitor contractual deliverables, milestones, payment terms, and obligations.
- Identify potential contractual and financial risks and escalate them appropriately.
- Support contract renewals, amendments, extensions, and negotiations.
Energy Market & Commercial Analysis
- Monitor developments in the energy industry, including conventional energy, renewable energy, power markets, energy trading, and emerging technologies as relevant to the business.
- Analyze market conditions, customer requirements, pricing trends, and competitive activity.
- Prepare commercial reports, forecasts, presentations, and management updates.
- Provide strategic recommendations to senior management based on market and commercial insights.
Stakeholder Management
- Build relationships with senior executives, government representatives, investors, energy-sector professionals, and strategic partners.
- Represent the company in high-level meetings and external business engagements.
- Coordinate with internal departments to ensure alignment between commercial commitments and operational delivery.
- Maintain strong communication with stakeholders throughout the project or contract lifecycle.
Revenue & Performance Management
- Achieve assigned revenue, margin, and business-development targets.
- Monitor key account performance and commercial profitability.
- Track sales pipeline, conversion rates, contract values, and revenue forecasts.
- Prepare regular commercial performance reports for senior management.
- Identify opportunities to improve profitability and reduce commercial risks.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Commerce, Engineering, Energy Management, Economics, or a related field.
- 5–10 years of experience in commercial management, business development, key account management, or a related role within the energy sector.
- Proven experience managing high-value clients and commercial relationships.
- Strong knowledge of commercial contracts, negotiations, pricing, and business development.
- Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation, and relationship-management skills.
- Strong understanding of energy-sector business models and market dynamics.
- Excellent analytical and financial understanding.
- Strong networking and stakeholder-management abilities.
- Ability to handle confidential information and high-level client relationships with discretion.
- Willingness to travel for client meetings, projects, conferences, and business development activities.
Preferred Qualifications
- MBA, Master’s degree, or professional qualification in business, finance, energy, or a related discipline.
- Experience working with major energy companies, utilities, oil & gas companies, renewable-energy businesses, or energy-service providers.
- Experience managing government or institutional clients.
- Experience with large-scale energy projects and commercial tenders.
- Knowledge of Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), EPC contracts, O&M agreements, energy trading, or related commercial structures is an advantage.
- Existing network within the energy sector is highly desirable.
