Art Teacher – High School
We are seeking a creative, passionate, and dedicated Art Teacher to join our high school faculty. The successful candidate will inspire students to explore their creativity, develop artistic skills, and appreciate various forms of visual art. The teacher will be responsible for planning and delivering engaging art lessons that encourage self-expression, critical thinking, and artistic development.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging art lessons for high school students in accordance with the school curriculum.
- Teach a range of artistic techniques, including drawing, painting, sketching, printmaking, sculpture, craft, and mixed media.
- Develop students’ creativity, artistic skills, visual awareness, and confidence.
- Introduce students to different art movements, styles, cultures, and renowned artists.
- Prepare lesson plans, instructional materials, demonstrations, and practical activities.
- Assess and monitor students’ artistic progress and provide constructive feedback.
- Maintain an organized, safe, and stimulating art classroom.
- Ensure proper use, storage, and maintenance of art materials and equipment.
- Encourage students to participate in art exhibitions, competitions, displays, and school events.
- Support students in developing art portfolios and completing projects.
- Integrate technology and contemporary art practices into lessons where appropriate.
- Collaborate with other teachers and participate in school activities, meetings, and professional development programs.
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, assessments, student progress, and classroom activities.
- Promote an inclusive learning environment that respects different abilities, backgrounds, and creative perspectives.
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Fine Arts, Visual Arts, Art Education, or a related field.
- Teaching qualification/certification as required by the relevant education board or institution.
- Previous experience teaching art at the high school level is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of art techniques, art history, and visual arts education.
- Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
- Creative, enthusiastic, patient, and student-focused approach.
- Ability to motivate students with different levels of artistic ability.
- Good organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to use digital art tools and educational technology is an advantage.
Preferred Experience
- Experience preparing students for art examinations or portfolio assessments.
- Experience organizing exhibitions, art clubs, workshops, or competitions.
- Knowledge of curriculum requirements such as CBSE, ICSE, IB, IGCSE, or other relevant boards is an advantage.
