Teaching Assistant – Bilingual Preferred
We are seeking a caring, enthusiastic, and reliable Teaching Assistant to support teachers and students in creating a positive, inclusive, and engaging learning environment. The successful candidate will assist with classroom activities, provide individual and small-group support, help students develop academically and socially, and contribute to the smooth day-to-day operation of the classroom. Bilingual candidates are strongly preferred.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the classroom teacher in planning and delivering effective learning activities.
- Provide individual and small-group support to students based on their learning needs.
- Assist students with classwork, assignments, projects, and classroom activities.
- Reinforce instructions and concepts introduced by the classroom teacher.
- Support students who require additional academic, language, or learning assistance.
- Assist bilingual or multilingual students with classroom communication and understanding instructions where appropriate.
- Help maintain a positive, safe, inclusive, and well-organized classroom environment.
- Monitor student behavior and encourage positive social and learning behaviors.
- Supervise students during classroom transitions, activities, breaks, and other school routines as assigned.
- Prepare and organize classroom materials, resources, displays, and learning activities.
- Assist with marking, record keeping, photocopying, filing, and other routine classroom tasks.
- Support students in developing independence, confidence, communication, and organizational skills.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, learning support staff, and other members of the school community.
- Communicate relevant observations about student progress and behavior to the classroom teacher.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding student information and follow school safeguarding policies.
- Participate in school events, professional development, meetings, and other assigned activities.
Qualifications & Skills
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Education, Early Childhood Education, Psychology, or a related field is preferred.
- Previous experience working with children or in a school/educational environment is preferred.
- Fluency in English and a second language is highly desirable.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patient, caring, approachable, and student-focused attitude.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Good classroom organization and time-management skills.
- Ability to support students with diverse learning abilities and backgrounds.
- Basic proficiency in educational technology and digital learning tools.
- Commitment to student safety, wellbeing, and inclusion.
Preferred Experience
- Experience as a Teaching Assistant, Classroom Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, or similar role.
- Experience supporting English language learners or multilingual students.
- Experience working in an international or multicultural school environment.
- Knowledge of differentiated instruction and inclusive classroom practices.
